Traditional healers

Tom Dearhouse

Tom is Kanien’kehaka and Anishinaabe, has worked with Kahnawake Shakotiia’takehnhas Community Services since 2001—as a youth protection caseworker, support counselor, and, for the past eight years, a traditional support counselor.

A former journalist, firefighter, ambulance technician, and band council chief, Tom blends social work and traditional knowledge through “two-eyed seeing,” sharing Indigenous Worldview teachings that foster healing and reconciliation among Indigenous and non-Indigenous audiences.

He draws on the Mohawk Creation Story, the Peacemaker and Great Law of Peace, and the cycle of ceremonies, using a trauma-informed and ceremonial approach.

Tom also serves as an elder and cultural resource for Montreal’s Indigenous community, supporting organizations like Projet Autochtone du Québec and Native Montreal’s Family Clinic. He often opens gatherings and speaks on Indigenous issues, healing, and reconciliation.

Mike Standup

Mike is Mohawk from Kahnawake Quebec, Canada. He is a spiritual healer and teacher and has been since 1990.

For over 30 years, he has met and shared space and stories with thousands of people from the native and non-native communities, locally and from around the world.

He feels truly blessed to be part of the miracle of a person’s transformation, as well as helping guide and witness these many wonders and awakenings.

Tealey Ka'senni:saks

Tealey Ka'senni:saks holds space for individuals who seek a welcoming environment to share, to vent, to express emotions, or simply sit in silence to reflect.

As a person who has worked in the urban community for two decades, Tealey has learned and listened to her elders for many years and now passes on her insights, knowledge and experiences to build trust, while supporting those seeking assistance along the path of their personal healing journey.

According to her, helping others make the connection to their culture, land, and Creator is the most deeply rewarding work to be found.
