Role Title: Youth Assistant Coordinator & Leaders in Training (LIT) Lead

Reporting to: Youth Coordinator

Native Montreal is a non-profit, multi-service, community-based Indigenous organization encompassing cultural and psychosocial intervention programs dedicated to Indigenous peoples of various age groups. We are proud members of the Friendship Center movement. 

Leaders in Training is a program for Indigenous Teens aged 12 to 17 years old. With the learning of Indigenous culture as a backdrop, we want children to develop a taste for healthy lifestyles and have the opportunity to experience both physical and social successes in building a healthy self-confidence. 

Job Description 

Reporting to the Youth coordinator, the Leaders in Training Assistant Coordinator will support the daily operations of the program. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with Teens, an understanding of Indigenous cultures, and the ability to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for campers. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Assist in planning and leading daily activities, including arts, sports, traditional teachings, and outdoor adventures 

  • Supervise and engage with participants, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times

  • Support Youth animators and Elders in facilitating activities, workshops, and excursions.

  • Help set up, clean, and maintain Native Montreal and other spaces and materials

  • Provide encouragement and guidance to participants, fostering a positive and inclusive environment 

  • Communicate with parents/guardians as needed and report any concerns to the Youth Coordinator 

  • Follow all Youth program policies, safety procedures, and emergency protocols

  • Perform all other related tasks requested by the Youth Coordinator 

Personal qualities: 

  • Leadership, dynamism, creativity, versatility, resourcefulness, sense of responsibility, stress tolerance.

Requirements: 

  • Experience working with Teens in a day camp, school, or community setting.

  • Experience in event planning is an asset. 

  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn about Indigenous cultures, traditions, and values.

  • Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills. 

  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic environment and take initiative. 

  • First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain before the start date).

  • Must be able to pass a background check. 

  • College Diploma or is currently pursuing a college degree 

  • Be 18 years old or older 

Work conditions : 

  • Seasonal position : April to August 2026 

  • Part-time (15h/week) : April & May 

  • Full-time (35–40h/week) : June to August 

  • Work schedule: Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm 

  • Salary: 18,02 $ à 24,94 $/h 

  • The starting salary ranges from $18.02 to $24.94 per hour, based on qualifications and experience. 

  • Work Locations: Native Montreal, SANAAQ, Angrignon Park, various predetermined locations throughout the city.
