Our Indigenous Governance and membership

Native Montreal is an Indigenous non profit and our Indigenous members are at the core of our governance

  • Indigenous members can be elected to be administrators and elect board members and vote for resolutions during our Annual general meetings.

  • Non indigenous members can be present during this meetings but cannot be elected or vote.

  • Voting Indigenous Members. To qualify as an Voting Member of the organisation, any person must:

    1)    Must be Individuals with Proof of Indigenous Status;

    2)    Reside or regularly work in the Greater Montreal area;

    3)    Be eighteen (18) years of age or older;

    4) Undergo the verification process as outlined in our Membership Criteria for Governance & Access to Services;

    5)    Adhere to the goals and objectives of the organization and commit to respecting all regulations defined by the organization established in our policies;

    6)    Accept to volunteer his/her time in pursuance of the Organisation’s goals;

    7) Agree to work voluntarily in pursuit of the goals of the Corporation;

    8) Does not hold elected office (councillor, mayor, chief, etc.); and

    9) Not be employed by the Friendship Center or their employment relationship has been broken for at least one year;
