Youth Council

Comprised of selected Indigenous youth aged 18 to 30 currently living in the Greater Montreal Area with a desire to be engaged in their community.

A self-directed group, the council provides an exciting opportunity for young people to focus on the issues important to them while making an impact on the lives of other urban indigenous youth.

Membership on the Native Montreal Youth Council includes accessing free training, skills development and fun team-building activities.

We are now taking applications for the Youth Council cohort of 2026. Please register below and you will be contacted for an interview.

Only selected candidates may participate in this program.

Enjoy watching Storytellers below, a 90 minute documentary project produced by the 2023-24 Youth Council

Throughout the documentary, the audience will gain insight into each youth's journey of reconnecting with their Indigenous culture(s). Each storyteller chose a topic they wanted to explore, discuss with Elders, and share with other Indigenous youth. The four chapters delve into topics that are deeply meaningful to the youth and can sometimes be overwhelming. The youth hope that the audience can relate, reflect, and further learn about their own culture.
