Youth Council
Comprised of 11 Indigenous youth aged 14 to 30 currently living in the Greater Montreal Area with a desire to be engaged in their community.
A self-directed group, the council provides an exciting opportunity for young people to focus on the issues important to them while making an impact on the lives of other urban indigenous youth.
Membership to the Native Montreal Youth Council will mean taking on a formal role within Native Montreal to guide decision-making while accessing training and skills development.
The Native Montreal Youth Council members are proud to reveal the project they have been working on for the past few months: a weekend of workshops to help you unleash the warrior in you!
Acts of protests are part of Indigenous realities. Many wish to partake in activism events such as protests or sit-ins, but feel they lack the resources to show up prepared and aware of their rights when in the presence of police forces and other forms of authority.
In order to equip members of the community with the skills they need to peacefully, safely and effectively protest and get their voices heard, the Youth Council has organized 4 special workshops you can participate in:
If you wish to participate in any of these workshops, you must be First Nations, Inuit or Métis and be 16 or older
