Youth Council

Comprised of 11 Indigenous youth aged 14 to 30 currently living in the Greater Montreal Area with a desire to be engaged in their community.

A self-directed group, the council provides an exciting opportunity for young people to focus on the issues important to them while making an impact on the lives of other urban indigenous youth.

Membership to the Native Montreal Youth Council will mean taking on a formal role within Native Montreal to guide decision-making while accessing training and skills development.

The Youth Council registration for the 2024-2025 cohort is closed

Watch last year’s project titled Storytellers below

Throughout the documentary, the audience will get a glimpse into each youth's journey of reconnecting to their indigenous culture(s). Each youth picked a topic that they wanted to explore, speak with Elders about, and share with other indigenous youth. All of the episodes include topics that are deeply significant to the youth, and may be overwhelming at times. This project has been emotionally intense, and equally as fulfilling. The youth hope that the audience can relate, reflect, and further learn about their own culture.
