Education Program Coordinator
The Education Program Coordinator, reporting to the Director of Prevention and Intervention, plays a key role in empowering Indigenous learners and their families by supporting their educational journeys and aspirations from childhood through adulthood. Through tailored support, school liaison, activity planning, and broader collaboration, the Coordinator works with a wider team to ensure that Indigenous learners thrive in culturally respectful, holistic, and inclusive environments and realize their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
1. Individualized Support for Learners, Students, and Families
Support Indigenous learners of all ages in building resilience and achieving their educational goals.
Provide personalized guidance to learners and their families, including navigating school systems and accessing appropriate supports such as Jordan’s Principle.
Liaise between parents and school staff or school service centres to improve relationships and outcomes.
Ensure supportive transitions across educational stages.
Collaborate with the holistic wellness team to support at-risk families, youth, and learners by coordinating individualized education plans and related services.
2. Programming
Provide life skills and readiness training (e.g., academic planning, time management, budgeting, independent living) based on identified needs.
Coordinate events and programs aimed at improving educational transitions and perseverance.
Collaborate with other Native Montreal programs (Family, Youth, Cultural Development, etc.) to integrate educational components into holistic programming.
Coordinate tutoring services, ensuring culturally safe pairings between learners and tutors.
3. Outreach
Conduct outreach campaigns to raise awareness and increase engagement among students, families, schools, and partners regarding Native Montreal’s education strategies.
4. School and Partner Collaboration
Act as a bridge between Native Montreal and educational institutions and the learners and families we serve (e.g., schools, school boards, adult education programs).
Support schools in implementing culturally sensitive strategies and initiatives for Indigenous student success.
Build relationships with key stakeholders (e.g., Indigenous affairs advisors within school boards) and participate in local education committees.
5. Program Coordination and Evaluation
Track services provided and conduct follow-ups with members using Native Montreal’s database.
Collect feedback and use evaluation results and community input to improve services and programming.
Perform any other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Education & Training
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
Relevant training or certification in pedagogy, project coordination, program evaluation, is considered a strong asset.
Experience
Minimum 2 years’ experience coordinating educational or youth-related programs, ideally with Indigenous communities in urban settings.
Knowledge of the Quebec education system, including school service centres, post-secondary institutions, and related policies
Familiarity with Jordan’s Principle, Indigenous educational frameworks, and culturally safe practices is considered an advantage.

WHAT WE OFFER
Permanent position of 35 hours per week, with the possibility of evening and weekend work depending on program and participant needs.
Salary of $50,000 to $76,081, depending on experience and internal equity.
Three (3) weeks of vacation after the first year and two (2) fixed vacation weeks during the Christmas holidays.
Fifteen (15) paid wellness days per year.
Five (5) paid family obligation days.
