Role Title: Assistant Family Coordinator and Day Camp Lead 

Reporting to: Family Program Coordinator

Native Montreal contributes to the holistic health, cultural strength, and success of Indigenous families, individuals, and communities in the greater Montreal area. Native Montreal is a non-profit, multi-service, community-based Indigenous organization encompassing cultural and psychosocial intervention programs dedicated to Indigenous peoples of various age groups. We are proud members of the Friendship Center movement. 

The Family program focuses on offering activities for Indigenous children aged 5 to 12 years old. With the learning of Indigenous culture as a backdrop, we want children to develop a taste for healthy lifestyles and have the opportunity to experience both physical and social successes in building a healthy self-confidence. 

Job Description: 

Reporting to the Family Program Coordinator, the Family Assistant Coordinator supports both the planning phase and the daily operations of the camp, as well as other Family programs as needed (Family Nest, Weekend Kids Club, Sports Program, etc). 

The ideal candidate is passionate about working with children, has an understanding of Indigenous cultures, and is committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all campers. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Assist in planning and leading daily camp activities, including arts, sports, traditional teachings, and outdoor adventures. 

  • Support the planning and execution of family programs prior to camp, as needed.

  • Supervise and actively engage with campers, ensuring their safety, well-being, and a positive experience at all times.

  • Collaborate with Camp Animators and Elders to facilitate activities, workshops, and excursions. 

  • Help set up, clean, and maintain camp spaces, equipment, and materials.

  • Provide encouragement, guidance, and support to campers, fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment. 

  • Communicate with parents/guardians as needed and promptly report any concerns to the Family Program Coordinator. 

  • Adhere to all camp policies, safety procedures, and emergency protocols.

  • Perform additional tasks as requested by the Family Program Coordinator to support smooth camp operations. 

Personal qualities: 

  • Leadership, dynamism, creativity, versatility, resourcefulness, sense of responsibility, stress tolerance, and a positive attitude toward outdoor activities and physical engagement. 

Requirements: 

  • First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain before the start date).

  • Must be able to pass a background check. 

  • College diploma or currently pursuing a college degree. 

  • Must be 18 years old or older. 

  • Experience working with children in a camp, school, or community setting is an asset.

  • Experience in event planning is an asset. 

  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn about Indigenous cultures, traditions, and values.

  • Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills. 

  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic environment, take initiative, and participate in physically active and outdoor activities in varying weather conditions. 

Work conditions : 

  • Seasonal position : April to August 2026 

  • Part-time (15h/week) : April & May 

  • Full-time (35–40h/week) : June to August 

  • Work schedule: Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm or 8am to 4pm 

  • Salaray: 18,02 $ à 24,94 $/h 

  • The starting salary ranges from $18.02 to $24.94 per hour, based on qualifications and experience. 

  • Work Locations: Native Montreal, SANAAQ, Angrignon Park, various predetermined locations throughout the city.
