Role Title: Cultural Animator (On call)
Reporting to: Cultural Program Coordinator

Native Montreal is a non-profit, multi-service, community-based Indigenous organization encompassing cultural and psychosocial intervention programs dedicated to Indigenous people of various age groups. Job Description
Under the supervision of the Cultural Program Coordinator, the Cultural Animators will animate, facilitate and provide feedback on programming (Craft workshops and circles, Women’s circle, etc) for all ages. They establish and maintain positive relationships with participants and ensure that all have a positive, culturally-secure experience.
Responsibilities
Provide quality service/animation to participants by meeting their needs throughout their participation;
Facilitate specific workshops, programs and services as required;
Coach participants, mediate disputes between members, and ensure participant safety;
Act as a resource person during online and in-person activities (be present during activities, answer questions, etc.);
Provide feedback on activities to the Coordinator of the program;
Ensure the presence of all necessary equipment for activities;
Carry out the logistics of setup;
Assist in the accountability of activities and project evaluation;
Log attendance statistics with our computer software;
Ensure the distribution of any relevant paperwork (participant satisfaction assessments, activity plans, etc.);
Contribute to program improvement and support evaluation and improvement initiatives;
Ensure that the members reached are aware of the range of services offered by the center, supporting our holistic service model;
Participate actively in team meetings when required;
Maintenance of the premises, as needed (eg. tidying space after activity, collecting litter before leaving an outdoor location);
Maintenance of inventory of supplies;
Any other related task.
Requirements
Education and experience:
High school diploma or equivalent;
Work experience in customer service, administrative support;
Relevant work experience in activity logistics or in the use of a relational database (an asset);
Relevant work experience in an Indigenous environment (an asset);
Knowledge in crafting (an asset).
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English and French;
Ease and skills with different digital telecommunications platforms;
Have a good knowledge of the urban Indigenous reality;
Ready to work evenings and weekends;
Ability to work with a diverse clientele;
Being able to work in a multidisciplinary team and develop a spirit of collaboration;
Punctual;
Good sense of initiative;
Must pass a criminal background check;
Adhere to the mission and values of Native Montreal.
Work conditions:
On Call, no more than 10 to 20 hours per week, mostly during evenings and weekends.
Part-time position, On Call
Hourly rate of $18.01
